ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided to buy ten advanced mobile scanners equipped for tracing explosive materials and controlling terror incidents, Geo News reported Friday.
Sources said these computerized vehicles equipped with automatic devices would be imported from abroad at a total cost of Rs10 billion.
The federal interior ministry has prepared a summary for the purchase of mobile scanners, which would soon be sent to the prime minister for his approval, sources said.
Sources further said that these scanner vehicles would be purchased either from US or China, which would be capable of searching explosive materials in cars, trailers and trucks and help block terror incidents.
Federal government would be keeping two of the ten vehicles for its use, while two each to be given to Punjab and Sindh and one each to Khyber Pukhtunkhaw, Balochistan, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan governments.
Following approval of the prime minister, the vehicles would be imported within one or two months, while the suppliers of the country from where these vehicles would be bought would also train the local operators.
