Kareena Kapoor Launches Style Diary

Kareena Kapoor on Feb. 7 launched her take on style, the book, “The Style Diary of a Bollywood Diva,” published by Shobhaa De Books and Penguin India.

During the Q&A, the actor stressed on the fact that being stylish is almost like a responsibility towards self. Apart from her, she replied that she considers her sister Karisma Kapur to be very stylish, apart from her mom Babita and even her mother-in-law Sharmila Tagore. 

“I feel Karishma is very stylish. She is born stylish. She is always perfectly dressed,” she chirped.

The book has something for everyone, even for the 40-plus women and men too! 

“I wasn’t in plans of writing a book - at least till I turn 60 for an autobiography! - until Shobhaa De called me for this one. She told me it was going to be a style diary,” said Kareena, who has co-written the book with Rochelle Pinto. The book, added De, reflected Kareena’s thoughts and Pinto had written the book in that manner.

Kareena Kapoor Khan, the royal bride and bahu of Pataudi family, is the highest paid actress of Hindi cinema. The book has revealed her personal life and secrets that were not known to anyone. The book is divided into two sections. Details of Kareena’s fitness regime, career and her relationship with hubby, Saif Ali Khan are blended with “body basics,” her transformation from a chubby actress to the size-zero actress in that phase, Yoga aasan, do’s & don'ts of diet and so on. Moving out of a needless coy zone, Kareena stated that she had even included a section on Female Lingerie, but admitted that she too was hesitant initially about speaking on it.

Kareena has revealed that her favorite brands are Prada, Dolce and Gabbana, and that Ralph Lauren and Alexander McQueen are among her favorite designers. The Diva loves online shopping from Net-a-porter, Shopbop and Bergdorf Goodman. Kareena feels comfortable in jeans and there are two big confessions in her book: one that she does not want her jeans for a month, and two, that she used to apply her grandmother's makeup and used to adore herself in front of the mirror!

Kareena has also admitted that she wanted to be a lawyer. Asked how Saif liked her attired, she said that her husband and her agreed that a woman looks best in sari. “Saif always tells me to wear sari. I think the problem is we always try to ape the west. But we have to dress according to the occasion. And true style is about wearing what you are most comfortable in and makes you feel confident.”

The 32-year-old actor was lauded by socialite Shobhaa De with the statement, “Kareena needs no bodyguards while traveling. Despite being a superstar that she is, Kareena feels completely secure about being in the city and refused any security even when coming here.”

At her charming and witty best, she fielded a question on Valentine’s Day and what she would gift Saif Ali Khan on that occasion, and she stated that it was Saif who should do the gifting as this was the first Valentine after marriage! “I love diamonds and I think that you do not need a specific day for gifting that to me! And now that “Race 2” is a hit, he should gift them to me!”

Asked a question about who is more ‘style’-rich, Narendra Modi or Rahul Gandhi, Kareena showed that style was not a contradiction to substance by replying that whoever does the best for the country and makes the nation progress was an icon for her.“
