Apple Rumors of New James Bondian iWatch Confirmed; Siri Still No Stand-In for Bond Girl

An imaginary (laser-shooting?) prototype.Much like when a caterpillar emerges from its cocoon as a beautiful butterfly, the unfounded rumors that Apple is building a “smartwatch” became anonymously sourced reports on Sunday.
Per The New York Times’s Nick Bilton:
Apple is experimenting with wristwatch-like devices made of curved glass, according to people familiar with the company’s explorations, who spoke on the condition that they not be named because they are not allowed to publicly discuss unreleased products. Such a watch would operate on Apple’s iOS platform, two people said, and stand apart from competitors based on the company’s understanding of how such glass can curve around the human body.A former lead Apple designer notes that Apple owns a patent for an invention that wirelessly charges its devices from a few feet away (cool) and theorizes that the company will make use of Siri as the go-to commander of the iWatch (not cool).
So if we’re thinking of this in terms of James Bond gadgetry: Instead of a state-of-the-art GPS system we have Apple Maps, instead of of a saucy British robot guide we have Siri, and instead of a tiny laser that shoots enemies we have. . . curved glass.
No word on whether MI6 will sue Apple over patent infringement.
