Jaguar to debut performance XJR sedan at New York auto show

Jaguar’s flagship XJ sedan lineup is getting a performance variant.

The 2014 Jaguar XJR will be the highest performance XJ sedan with 550 hp. Currently the most powerful new XJ sedan has a 5.0-liter V8 supercharged engine making 503 hp.

Jaguar R models combine Jaguar’s most powerful engines with steering, suspension and braking enhancements, along with sporty interior and exterior design cues.

Jaguar isn’t issuing any more details ahead of the XJR’s New York auto show reveal, but the released photo shows an R badge on the grille, special wheels and a more aggressive-looking front fascia.

The XF with all-wheel drive and the F-Type convertible will also be on display at the show.

The 2013 New York auto show runs from March 29-April 7 and is expected to attract a range of production and concept cars such as the new Toyota Highlander, Jeep Cherokee and the United States debut of the Corvette Stingray Convertible.
