Kate Moss To Appear In Playboy

Oh dear. Kate Moss, what is going on in that fabulous Ming vase you call a head. Playboy? Of course.
News network site NowThis News reported on Wednesday that Mossy is to do a cover and editorial for Hugh Hefner’s classy jazz mag’s 60th anniversary issue in January 2014. The site claims to have accessed an internal memo that lists fetishistic photographic duo Mert & Marcus and W stylist Alex White as the visionaries behind the shoot, which according to the source is taking place this weekend.
Am I missing a beat here? Didn’t the Croydon-born supermodel express regret over her ’90s nude shoots for the likes of Calvin Klein in a recent interview with Vanity Fair?
Now La Moss could nearly get away with murder and still come up smelling of roses (and cigarette smoke). The Co-Kate scandal, cavorting with genius-shambles Pete Doherty, and a regular stream of hard-partying anicdotes have done nothing but increase her popularity with the fashion crowd, and the public at large. Only Kate can wear a dress backwards (above) and make it work.
Now her appearance at Carine Roiting-feld’s book party last Monday in Paris would point to the cracks finally starting to show in Kate’s oxymoron of a flawless image.
With a flash of her pseudo-bare spangled arse from under a Saint Laurent men’s tuxedo jacket spelled desperation, rather than inspiration. Add to that a risque runway appearance at the Louis Vuitton ‘fur coat AND knickers’ show this week and the rumoured Playboy shoot, and you’ve got yourself a slow-but-sure year-long strip tease.
Going nude is a risky tactic aimed at propelling a gal to the top. Seen as Kate is already there, what is her motivation? Could it be the new breed of supermodel nipping at her ankles?
Alison Boshoff at the Daily Mail seems to think so. Cara Delevingne, Joan Smalls and Karlie Kloss have the mass market appeal and high fashion chops to rival the ’90s contemporaries Moss left behind decades ago, as her modelling career sky rocketed – against all the odds.
Perhaps Kate is ready to sign off, and Playboy is her last hurrah, making a full circle of a career that started with a skinny, boyish waif enveloped in Marky Mark buff.
