There’s plenty of room for growth and evolution in today’s ultrabook market and Lenovo is one of the companies that seem to always be pushing the envelope. Last year’s Thinkpad T430u and X1 Carbon have been two of the shiniest stars of the class of portable computers, but the new T431s still manages to raise the bar higher.
Especially when it comes to design, the new 14-incher is a breath of fresh air, combining elegance with tradition and a slim profile with ruggedness like no other. The fellow measures weighs 3.6 pounds and is just 0.8 inches thick and yet it’s sturdy and very robust.
As far as specs go, there’s nothing extraordinary about the Thinkpad T431s, but that doesn’t make the hardware any less punchy. The 14-incher will come in several different configurations, with the top of line packing a third-gen Core i7 CPU, 12 GB of RAM and a 256 GB SSD.
You can of course go for dual SSD/HDD storage if you prefer, while the connectivity options include anything from USB 3.0 to 3G and LTE. The display is one of very few flaws here, only boasting a 1,600 x 900 pixels resolution.
Running Windows 8 out of the box, the Lenovo ThinkPad T431s is slated for a mid-April global release and pricing will vary from $950 to around $1,500. Well done, Lenovo, once again!
