Shilpa Shetty set upon mission to helping hapless kids

KARACHI: Actor, entrepreneur and a philanthropist Shilpa Shetty, who has always been interested in founding an NGO for hapless children is now determined to support them fully through her own organization “The Shilpa Shetty Foundation”.

Initially, Shilpa only wanted to support little orphan girls but later she changed her decision because of her husband Raj Kundra, who convinced her to start an NGO to help needy boys too. Kundra felt that boys should also be given attention as they too are much more helpless and deprived of basic necessities.

Shilpa’s foundation is aimed at taking care of children’s basic needs such as food, clothing, shelter as well as their health and education.

Most recently, she hosted a celebrity studded event at her IOSIS Spa in Mumbai to benefit the children from CARF (Cancer Aid and Research Foundation).

According to sources, Shilpa has also decided not to work with any other NGO or charitable trust in the future but for her own foundation only. In the past, she had been working with Parmeshwar Godrej’s Heroes Project in supporting many noble causes. Plus, she has done a lot of work on Aids , adopted 6 villages for the NDTV campaign and has also contributed to many other charities.
