You go Back to BlackBerry, RIM Goes Back to Black – Z10 a Million Sale Success Story

It really wasn’t a good year for Research in Motion (RIM) last year.  The BlackBerry manufacturer suffered a dramatic loss of yearly revenue equating to approximately forty per cent.  A huge amount of six hundred and twenty-eight million dollars of operating losses accumulated since early spring last year.
However, it does seem that the company known simply as BlackBerry may once again be on the road to recovery, thanks to the new

model smartphone, the BlackBerry Z10.
Sales have been very, very healthy with over one million of the Z10 handsets sellingwithin just a mere month of being on sale.  The finishing quarter of 2012/2013 saw the company post net profits of nearly a hundred million dollars.  We can compare this to the nine million posted in the quarter prior and staggering losses of a hundred and twenty-five million dollars for the same time period last year.
As we said; it’s quite a turnaround.
Mr Mike Lazaridis who founded the company has taken this as a good sign that it is time for him to step down and retire.  In statements made by Mr Lazaridis, he makes it apparent that he feels he has fulfilled his obligation in getting the company back on track with the release of the BlackBerry Z10 and now is therefore an appropriate time for him to retire.  The incredible sales figures of the new Z10 are even more astonishing when one considers the timing of the release of the smartphone.
In the United Kingdom the device was released for sale a mere 4 weeks prior to the financial year end date of March the second.  The even more important American market did not get its hands on the new device until literally last week.
Despite this the sales of the BlackBerry Z10 have exceeded expectations and it appears the company is back on track.  And what’s more, all of the above positive tidings come despite the notable absence of the QWERTY keyboard Q10 – slated for a release date sometime this spring though right now still something of a mystery
It is hoped that further BlackBerry models released later this year will accelerate the current upward trend, with and all-new flagship BlackBerry 10 Smartphone having already been announced for the fall.
