Dubai Police adds the new Lamborghini Aventador to its fleet in an effort to make Dubai "a city of luxury in all of its facilities," according to a report in CNN.
The Dubai cops will soon be seen driving a white and green combination Lamborghini Aventador, which can accelerate 0-60 mph in 2.9 seconds and has a top speed of 217 mph. The 700 horsepower with V12 engine Italian supercar can surely take down speeding drivers effortlessly. The announcement was made by the force through its Twitter feed, showing a picture of the Aventador with a customized license plate 8 and captioned as "Latest #Dubai_Police patrols, now at your service."
The official tweet soon went viral following series of re-tweets with the "#onlyinDubai" hashtag. Several users congratulated the Dubai Police HQ on the advancement.
"Lambo Cop Cars. Do not speed in Dubai. They will hunt you down and in Italian sports cars." Twitter user @eJbacher_says wrote.
Another tweet from @knicks20 read: "Wouldn't mind being pulled over by the popo in dubai... Lambo cop cars..."
"May have to think about a transfer!! Dubai Police Unveil Lamborghini Patrol Car," another user @NYorksRPG wrote.
According to a report from CNN, recent figures showed that 15 percent of the total traffic fines collected in Dubai are for speeding above 130 mph. The Dubai Police are currently conducting an awareness campaign for the over-speeding young drivers who often use the desert motorways for racing purpose. For over-speeding on the highways of the city, individuals could easily attract a fine of $150-$200.
Several people criticized the move to set a limit and fine for over-speeding. "If the roads are all clear, and it's late and dark, why do I need to drive slow and risk even falling asleep when I can drive quicker to get home?" An Emirati said: "I don't think it is fair that they risk losing their jobs for driving above 200 kmph."
"Every car can easily go above 200 kmph. It is better to raise awareness in this regard instead of imposing such a harsh rule."
Lamborghinis are also used by the local forces in Italy and Qatar. Dubai is yet another city to have the Aventadors for the Police force.
