NEW DELHI: Microsoft is in the process of drawing up a comprehensive plan for a national broadband highway in Pakistan.
icrosoft country manager in Pakistan Amir Rao told newspersons that the country needs sustainable infrastructure for its economy if the country is to reach its true potential though fixing the infrastructure is one of the greatest challenges.
He said that Microsoft had been working on increasing the broadband penetration of the country and would like it increased by at least 20 per cent.
The plan would be presented to the government which will include suggestions to improve the IT infrastructure and link it to schools, hospitals and law enforcement agencies etc. He said that bringing the entire country on to a one-window system for public infrastructure with services like birth certificates, land developments, driving licenses etc. would save a lot of cost, improve transparency, reduce frustration levels of citizens and improve the quality of life.

Rao said Microsoft already had citizen care framework technology but it was in need of support infrastructure.
