have teamed up yet again to launch three new Motorola Droid smartphones, namely, the Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx and Droid Mini.
Verizon revealed the new Droid smartphones at an event in New York. All the three devices will hit the stores in the US on August 20 and will be available with a 2-year contract. Customers will be able to buy the Droid Ultra for $199, the Droid Mini for $99 and the Droid Maxx for $299. The smartphones can be pre-booked at this point in time.
All the three smartphones under the new Droid family sport KEVLAR fiber body. These smartphones are powered by the Motorola X8 Mobile Computing System which consists of 8 cores that include 2 high-end application processors, 4 graphics processors and 2 unique cores.
The Droid Ultra is said to be the flagship device and comes with a sleek 7.18mm thick chassis. It sports a 5-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 720x1080 pixels and boasts a pixel density of 294 PPI.
While there is a 1.7GHz dual-core processor coupled with 2GB of RAM, under the hood. It includes a 10-megapixel auto-focus rear camera accompanied by an LED flash and a 2-megapixel front camera. The device runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. The Droid Ultra also includes a 2130mAh battery.
The Droid Mini sports a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 720x1080 pixels and comes with a pixel density of 342PPI. The display has Corning Gorilla Glass coating as well. The device is powered by a 1.7GHz dual-core processor with 2GB of RAM. The Droid Mini also features a 10-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and 2-megapixel front camera. The Droid Mini runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. It also includes a 2000mAh battery.
The Droid Maxx features a 5-inch Super AMOLED display with 720x1080 pixels resolution. The device is powered by 1.7GHz dual-core processor with 2GB of RAM. The Motorola Droid Maxx continues the Maxx smartphone tradition packing in a huge 3500mAh battery.
Verizon Wireless and Motorola (now owned by Google) launched their first smartphone under the Droid portfolio in 2009. Since then the two have been expanding the Droid range adding new smartphones, every year.
